What is Meffiti.com?
Meffiti.com is a dynamic web site that allows users to add their own "tags" to rooms. A tag is a block of text that can be sized and positioned on the room's "wall". Users can also create new rooms and link rooms to other rooms. The Meffiti world is layed out as a large 2D grid. You can move North, South, East and West. Users have the ability to rate other user's tags.
Registration/Login
Anyone can navigate and view the rooms and tags without having to register and log in. However, if you want to create rooms and tags you must register an account and be logged in to that account. You will need to provide a valid email address in order to activate your account. Your email address is only used for account activation. You will need to have cookies enabled on your browser in order to log in.
Navigation
You can move between rooms by using the arrows on the right hand side of the web page. Below the navigation arrows is a map of your current location. The map will give you an indication of where you can move to. If you are logged in your current location will be saved between logins.
Building Rooms
Navigation arrows may point in a direction that doesn't contain a room. In this case when you click the arrow you will be prompted to enter a room name. This will create a new room with the name you've entered. NOTE: Any user can add tags to rooms that you create.
Linking Rooms
Navigation arrows may point to a room that currently has no link. Clicking one of these navigation arrows will ask you if you want to create a link to that room.
Tagging
Clicking the plus icon in the center of the navigation arrows will allow you to create a new tag in the room you are in currently. You will be given a text box where you can enter your tag's text. Upon clicking Ok you will be allowed to position and size your new tag. To move the tag around the wall just click and drag it. To re-size the tag your need to hold the SHIFT key, click the tag and drag the mouse. Once the tag is sized and positioned the way you want it you can click Done to save it. NOTE: It is considered rude to completely cover someone elses tag(s) with your own tag.
You can either create plain text tags, linked image tags or YouTube Video tags.
When you select the ImageURL option you need to place a direct image link into the text of the tag. Only select photo sharing sites will be accepted. The current sites are: flickr.com, imageshack.us, photobucket.com and wikimedia.org.
You can select the YouTube Video option to add an embedded YouTube video to the page. Just copy the "Embed" html from the YouTube web site and past it onto the tag text field. You'll be able to size and position the video just like any other tag.
Rating
You can rate other user's tags. A tag that you can rate will have plus(+) and minus(-) icons in its upper right hand corner. Click + if you like the tag or - if you don't like it. You may only rate each tag once.
